Common questions
What is the Home Renovation Savings Program?
Home Renovation Savings (HRS) is Ontario's provincial rebate program offering up to $12,000 to homeowners for energy-efficient upgrades — heat pumps, insulation, windows, doors, solar, and air sealing. It launched January 28, 2025 and runs through November 30, 2026.
Is the HRS program ending in 2026?
The current funding period ends November 30, 2026. Pre-approvals must be issued before that date. Work completed by Sept 30, 2027 with pre-approval before deadline still qualifies. Future extensions are possible but not guaranteed.
Can I do the work myself and still get the rebate?
No. HRS requires installation by a Participating Contractor — meaning a contractor registered with the program. DIY work and installations by non-registered contractors do not qualify, regardless of how good the work is.
