What this means in York Region
York Region splits two ways. The southern, newer areas — Markham, Vaughan, Richmond Hill — are mostly on natural gas, which earns the $2,000 rate. But northern and rural York — Georgina, East Gwillimbury, King, and parts of Whitchurch-Stouffville — often heat with propane, oil, or electric, which qualifies for the much higher $7,500 rate. If you are off natural gas, your rebate is about 2.5× a gas home’s.

Do I need an energy audit?
No, not for the standalone HRS heat pump rebate — only if you bundle it with insulation, windows or air sealing.
